Dr. Dre Accused Of Clout Chasing Off Of Nipsey Hussle

by HHL JT

About a week after Nipsey Hussle's tragic passing, Dr. Dre posed next to a photo of Nip during a studio season with The Game and Snoop Dogg.

Fast forward to the present. An interview NIp did with Bootleg Kev in 2013 has been circulating. In the chat, Nip discussed the "muthaf**k a Detox" jab on his The Marathon track "Mr. Untouchable."

"What I said about the Dre situation was just me being a real nigga. It wasn't like a direct shot. It was just like me speaking what was true to me at the moment. We doing us, and we gonna push regardless of co-signs, help, people coming down dropping ropes. I felt like if I'm sitting back in the game, and I'm watching Nipsey Hussle, and I'm watching Dom Kennedy, and I'm watching YG at that moment developing a situation - I just felt like what I would do - I wouldn't spend money. I wouldn't necessarily offer financial support, but I would do what I do to these young dudes that I see. I would acknowledge they grind. Because when it's impossible to miss, and you don't acknowledge it, that becomes intentionally not acknowledging it."

Nip also discussed Dre passing him over in his "Keys To The City" bars.

“Hussle, hussle, Dre passed, Def Jam, Capital Alantic too/Thought that I’ll be dead or doing life, ’cause what I rap is true/Just another you know who,” Nip rapped.

In light of that, some folks on Twitter are accusing Dre of ghoulish clout chasing:

I don’t care how nobody feels about this. Dre should not be near any Nipsey tribute or anything related to Nip. He didn’t support him while he was here. And we shouldn’t let him gain clout off his death idc https://t.co/r8CGgprbz8

Nip wanted to work with him so badly, he said it so many times. It was one of his dreams and he constantly ignored him https://t.co/CHaGcOpxwu

A lot of you think I’m saying he can’t get new fans or that Dre shouldn’t support and nah. I’m saying how it’s ridiculous a legendary gatekeeper in the game avoided, ignored, and passed on a huge movement in his city for 12 years. Only time Dre can give dude love is in death?
