Last month we shared an interview with DJ Paul, who talked about producing "Talk Up," featuring JAY-Z for Drake's Scorpion album.
During that conversation, Paul said that he's known Drizzy for years, and they've written songs together in the past. But in a new interview with TMZ, he said Drake's mom helped "Talk Up" come together.
"The funny thing how that happened is I ran into Drake's mom," said Paul. "Drake's mom is my neighbor. She told Drake, 'I met this really nice guy named DJ Paul.' I been knowing Drake forever — out of sight out of mind — but he probably thought about it like 'God Damn, Paul do have some hard-ass beats.' Me and Drake been talking about getting together forever, but we never did it. So when she ran into me in the neighborhood, I was going for a walk, he probably thought about it like 'I should hit up Paul.' He hit me up on Instagram like 4 in the morning ... I gotta thank Drake's mom."
Paul also said he's been signing some major deals because of "Talk Up."
"I just left New York," he said. "I just left up there signing some big deals ... Before I left New York, in L.A. I signed another big deal ... We got a couple of six-figure deals this week."
