Yung Bans' debut album Misunderstood dropped two Fridays ago.
If you didn't know that, you're not alone. Nobody streamed, let alone bought, the major label project.
Bans had been beefing with media personality DJ Akademiks before going plastic. Ak was more than happy to point out the young ATLer's epic failure by beaking down his lack of numbers.
Its confirmed that Yung Bans 'Misunderstood' album failed to chart on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart in its first week despite features from YNW Melly, Lil Durk, Gunna, Young Thug, xxxtentacion, Nav & more. Which means it didn't even sell 5K first week. SAD!— DJ Akademiks (@Akademiks) August 6, 2019
The reason you haven't seen how much Yung Bans sold first week is that his album sales were so low that it made absolutely no charts that Billboard recognizes. The last album on the Billboard top 200 list this week sold around 4500 so he must have sold less than that 2not make it— DJ Akademiks (@Akademiks) August 6, 2019
Bans is only 20, so there is time for him to recover from this sales debacle. The Migos are an example of an act that flopped at first but bounced back. Although their disappointing 18K first week for their 2015 debut Yung Rich Nation is still a lot better than what Bans put up. Bans is in Troy Ave territory with his sub-4500 opening.
