Diddy Corrects Record On How Much He Pays Sting For 'I'll Be Missing You' Sample

by HHL JT

Puff Daddy notoriously didn't ask Sting if they could sample the 1983 Police track "Every Breath You Take" on his 1997 Biggie tribute "I'll Be Missing You".  If they had, Sting would have likely got around 25 percent of the royalties. Since they didn't, Sting's lawyers swooped in and took all of the royalties.

The word on the web is that Sting still makes $2000 a day on those royalties, or $730K a year.

Diddy just corrected that.  In fact, Sting makes $5000 a day and about $1.82 million a year.

Nope. 5K a day. Love to my brother @OfficialSting! 😎 ✊🏿🫶🏿 https://t.co/sHdjd0UZEy

Puff did confirm that he and Sting are good friends now.

Sting also makes a ton of money on the Juice WRLD track "Lucid Dreams", which uses the guitar riff from  Sting's  1993 song "Shape Of My Heart."

Sadly, Sting and Juice will never become friends.
