Did Twitter Figure Out What JAY-Z's '4:44' Title Means?

by HHL Editors

We were under the impression JAY-Z's album 4:44 is called 4:44 because he woke up at 4:44 AM and had an idea about it.

But is there more to the story?

Twitter thinks so.

I'm at The Standard where Solange beat Jay-Z's ass in the elevator. THE ADDRESS IS 444. I AM SHOOK pic.twitter.com/ZKtAVxMQiS

That famous confrontation between Solange and JAY-Z during the 2014 Met Gala at the Standard Hotel is said to have inspired albums by Beyonce, Solange and now JAY-Z.

It was quickly pointed out that the Standard Hotel's address is actually 848 Washington Street.

However, Le Bain, a bar located in the Standard, has a 444 West 13th Street address. And it happens that the elevator where Solonge started punching is located near the Le Bain entrance.

Coincidence?

Yeah, probably. But you never know.
