Did Roddy Ricch's Album Flop Because Of Drake?

by HHL JT

Roddy Ricch's sophomore album Live Life Fast is projected for a 64K opening week.

Not bad numbers, but a big letdown after his debut album Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial had a six-figure open and then preceded to get hotter and hotter, becoming the most streamed album globally on Apple Music in 2020.

Some are attributing the disappointing opening to Roddy's dealing with Drake.

The two got together last year for a track called "In the Cut."  The word on the digital street is that Drake wanted it on Certified Lover Boy, but Ricch was feeling himself and said he wanted it on his album.

They didn't come to an agreement, and then the track leaked, with Roddy the suspected culprit.

The end result of all of that is that there was no reciprocal Drake feature on Roddy's album, and without the Drake stimulus package (and the promo of Roddy being on CLB) Live Life Fast suffered.
