Terrible news out of the sports world.

Zeke Upshaw, a swingman for the Detroit Pistons' G-League affiliate Grand Rapids Drive, died of cardiac arrest two days after collapsing on the court during the fourth quarter of Saturday's game against the Long Island Nets. He was removed from the arena on a stretcher.

His mother announced his passing.

“After continued efforts from the medical team at Spectrum Health, Zeke made his transition at 11:16 am. To family, friends, teammates, coaches, fans and confidants, thank you for your prayers and support during this most difficult time.”

The 26-year old from Chicago played at Illinois State before transferring to Hofstra. He did two seasons overseas before he was drafted by the Drive in the 2016 draft.

He was averaging 8.5 points a game for the Drive.

RIP.
