David Ortiz Shot In the Dominican Republic

Former Boston Red Sox star David Ortiz was shot this evening during a burglary at an "amusement center" in his hometown of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.

The 43-year-old was taken to a local hospital.

“They called me to tell me that David is injured and that they took him to a medical center, but they did not tell me how he is or exactly where he was transferred,” Ortiz’s father, Leo, told ESPN.

There are some reports he was hit in the leg. The suspect is in police custody.
