Coke Is Getting Into Weed

by HHL JT

Coca-Cola is in talks with Canada-based pot farmer Aurora Cannabis to create beverages infused with weed, according to a report today in Bloomberg.

But the new beverage won't necessarily get you high.

Instead, Coke is said to be focused on CBD, the non-psychoactive chemical found in marijuana plants. CBD can reduce inflammation, pain, and cramping.

“They’re pretty advanced down the path” of doing a deal, according to one source who has direct knowledge of the talks between the two companies.

“It’s going to be more of the ‘recovery drink’ category,” the source added.

But don't worry, you may still eventually be able to get high from a mass-produced can or a bottle even if Coca-Cola never goes that direction with Aurora. Multiple alcohol makers have partnered with marijuana producers to develop THC-based drinks for when the Federal government legalizes pot.
