China Has Banned Hip Hop And Hip Hop Culture From TV

The Chinese government isn't feeling Hip Hop.

The State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People’s Republic of China (SAPPRFT) now “specifically requires that programs should not feature actors with tattoos that depict hip hop culture, sub-culture (non-mainstream culture) and dispirited culture (decadent culture)."

The ban follows the sudden removal of rapper GAI from Chinese TV’s Singer, which is an American Idol-like show.

Additionally, Chinese rapper PG One was forced to publicly apologize earlier this month after one of his tracks was deemed to demean women and promote drug culture.

Underground rapper Triple H has recently had his music removed from streaming services in China.

Another reason you should be glad you don't live in China.
