Check The Opening Week Projections For Drake's "Dark Lane Demo Tapes"

by HHL JT

Drake described his mixtape Dark Lane Demo Tapes as "some leaks and some joints from SoundCloud and some new vibe."

Hits Daily Double is projecting the surprise drop will do 230-255k in its first week with all but about 18K of that in streams.

That's quite impressive for a hastily put-together project of loosies.  But it's not impressive for a Drake project, and would undersell similar Drake efforts like  More Life (505K), What A Time To Be Alive ( 375K) and If You're Reading This It's Too Late (495K) considerably.

Those Dark Lane Demo Tape totals are still good enough to compete for number one with Kenny Chesney’s new album Here And Now. Chesney is projected for 220-235k, with 210-220K in pure sales.  (Yeah, country music fans and Hip Hop consume music quite differently.  But Chesney also has a ticket bundle attached to those pure sales.)

Do you see 250K as a disappointing number for Drake?  Or is at an appropriate figure, given Drake has made it clear Dark Lane Demo Tapes is just a warm-up for his sixth album, which is expected shortly.
