Check Out What Your Favorite Rapper is Making Per Stream

by HHL JT

The music industry has been undergoing a massive paradigm change over the last five years, with streaming pushing aside both traditional album sales and radio.

The shift has helped push Hip Hop, the most young-oriented genre, to the top of the charts.

But that's been a blessing and a curse for your favorite rapper since streams end up paying way less than they would be getting if their fans went to Best Buy or downloaded their album on iTunes.

How much less depends on the streaming service.

As you can see, that's quite a discrepancy. (Our math says 30x, not 3x.)  Ironically Napster, which used to the villain of the music industry, is paying out the most.

Too bad everyone is using YouTube, which pays by far the least.

This may all explain why YouTube king NBA YoungBoy is so depressed.
