Cardi B's ride from stripper to reality tv player to rapper has been a fast and fairly unique one.

But there have been some hiccups along the way. During a recent Instagram Live session, Cardi explained that she almost quit the game after her verse was rejected for an unnamed famous artist's track.

"I did a verse to somebody's song," Cardi said, "and other artists were on the song as well. I was so excited because I felt like my verse was so poppin'. And then, the artist told me that I couldn't be on the song anymore because one of the artists that was on the song felt like I was too small and they were too big for me to be on the same song with them ... I was just fresh off Love & Hip-Hop and everything, and that shit broke my heart.

"It almost tore me up so bad that I was like 'I don't want to do this shit anymore,'" she continued. "'I'm just going to fuck with this TV shit. ' But my manager was like 'Fuck it, you gotta keep on going.' And I did, and I did, and I did, and I did."

Cardi said that this happened around Christmas. Which probably means Christmas of last year, when she was getting some recognition as a spitter but was still six months away from getting her big break with "Bodak Yellow."  On December 30th, 2016 she announced she had quit Love & Hip Hop to pursue music full-time.
