Cam'ron Reveals Retirement & Purple Haze 2 As His Final Album

by Sermon

Cam'ron has had one hell of a run. He's an innovator of the culture, and has given us timeless classics both solo and under the Diplomats umbrella. He introduced the world to several rappers, including Juelz Santana and Jim Jones. In recent years, he's released less music and focused on other ventures, like his clothing and movies. This year, his six part EP series, First Of The Month, added 30 songs to his vast catalog.  All good things must come to an end, and Cam'ron is retiring from the music business.

After his IG photo yesterday revealed his final album Purple Haze 2 coming next summer, Miss Info chopped it up with Cam briefly.

Info: Are you really going to retire from rap? Cam: Yeah. It’s a wrap. Time to move on. Info: Well, you made yourself a legend, and the music will last forever. So what will you focus on next? Cam: Thanks, Min. Movies and clothing are doing really well for me right now. I’m helping Mendeecees [Yandy’s husband from Love and Hip Hop NY] with his album. And…I’m building a club in Vegas.
An interesting decision from Cam, but one that we all can respect. He's done as much within the music industry that he can do at this point. His future is using what he learned and built in music to propel his career to the next chapter. Like he said, both clothing and his movies have been successful, so it's a perfect next step to follow.

Let's hope that Purple Haze 2 is the proper send-off album for Killa Cam fans.

Do you really think Cam is going to step away from the mic? Or is he retiring like boxers "retire?"
