The next Verzuz battle will be an R&B competition.
Swizz Beatz announced over the weekend that Monica and Brandy will battle each other on August 31 at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.
The singers collaborated more than once, but their biggest hit together is 1998's "The Boy Is Mine."
Brandy, who recently admitted to being suicidal once, had a contentious relationship with Monica, before and after "The Boy Is Mine" dropped. Monica even physically attacked Brandy once.
Back in May, Monica said she was hesitant to do a Verzuz battle with Brandy because she didn't want people to bring up their old beef again.
"I understand the idea of [Verzuz] and I think it’s really, really entertaining and it is an incredible idea," Monica told V-103. "Now what I do like is it’s kind of turning into a celebration. I can handle a celebration. One thing that has happened to me my whole career is being put against someone else that I’m not even remotely similar to. I think the reality is, us being polar opposites makes it dope."
