Big Fendi found Nicki Minaj (who was then named Nicki Maraj) on MySpace in 2006. He signed her to his label, changed her name and introduced her to Jadakiss and Busta Rhymes.
But about that time Nicki also became involved with manager Debra Antney, who is Wacka Flacka Flame's mother, among other things. Once Nicki signed with Young Money Entertainment she ditched Fendi for Antney. Fendi was only offered a $15,000 finders fee for, as he puts it, creating one of Hip Hop's biggest stars.
He didn't take the fee and is still bitter about the lowball offer, although he does own the rights to the name Nicki Minaj and Nickiminaj.com. He sounded off on his former protege' on the Breakfast Club, claiming Minaj had been "brainwashed" by Antney. So much so that when she sees Fendi she won't even acknowledge him. He also slapped Minaj with the G-word.
"Nicki’s a groupie," he said, before detailing his earlier history with her.
Fendi is the second industry figure to grandiosely lash out at Nicki this week. Yesterday 'Lil Kim said Minaj was "obsessed" with her, but didn't necessarily have the evidence to back up that claim. Now we get Fendi with his accusation of brainwashing.
