Andre 3000 Goes Into More Detail About Why He Doesn't Want To Rap Anymore

by Daryl Nelson

André 3000 has spoken more about why he released his instrumental flute album New Blue Sun and why he doesn't want to rap anymore.

It's a topic the Outkast artist has spoken a lot about lately, especially since so many people expressed disappointment about the album's lack of any lyrics.

"To be a rapper you got to be rapping," André told CBS This Morning "I haven’t been rapping. Like, I don’t hang around the studio. I don't sit and try to rap everyday. Like, when I was younger and that’s all I did, I miss those times a lot, but it’s like life changes, life moves on."

"I don’t necessarily like looking back and I wouldn’t want to be in a place where I’m doing it on some, just because I’m trying to meet an expectation," he added. "I didn’t get into Outkast for that. We were just kids trying to see how far we could take it … Maybe I haven’t found the music inspiring enough for me to want to write. Or, maybe I got to find a new way to rap."
