A$AP Rocky Explains Why He Gave Up Drugs and Alcohol

by Daryl Nelson

A$AP Rocky has stopped smoking weed and drinking alcohol in 2019.

“It’s been 18 days. I'm sober right now, my head is on straight. I'm happy to be here, I'm high off life, bro,” Rocky told GQ.  “I'm also trying to cut out all the sugars and shit. When I turned 30, my metabolism slowed way down. And on top of that, the weed was just having me fucked up, bro, honestly. But I'mma get back on it. You gotta focus for a minute.”

Rocky — who also talked about the orgies he has on tour — then said that being sober won't affect his creativity, and he blasted those who have to get high to create.

"I feel like people cope or use drugs as a vice," he explained. "That's they own demons and shit like that, but I would say if you gotta depend on it, that means that you're not really talented to begin with."

The interview comes after the Harlem rapper made headlines for getting into a fight in Canada and revealing that he's no longer kissing female fans because of R. Kelly.
