A$AP Rocky Says Race Isn't Involved In His Arrest

by Daryl Nelson

A$AP Rocky said that race isn't the reason he's been locked up. However, sources tell TMZ he has to say this.

The rapper has been in a Swedish jail for three weeks after getting involved in a street fight. Donald Trump said he'd help get him free.  But it looks like his involvement may hurt Rocky because the prosecutor and the Prime Minister don't appreciate the president's interference.

TMZ has learned that if Rocky did say race was a factor in his case, the prosecutor and judge would come down on him even more. The Swedish government swears they don't discriminate, and foreigners who make that claim can get in even more trouble.

An insider also said that prosecutors plan to charge the "Purple Swag" spitter with aggravated assault. Rocky's lawyers are saying ASAP was lured into the fight, and there is some video footage to support that.

However, prosecutors argue that Rocky and his entourage made the first physical contact and have just stated they will *not* charge the youth Rocky is seen bodyslamming with any crime.

If Rocky is convicted he faces up to six years.
