6LACK Says Explains Why Wale Is On The Same Level Of Kendrick Lamar, Drake & J. Cole

by Daryl Nelson

Wale is on Atlanta singer 6LACK's new album Since I Have a Lover, on the song “Stories in Motion.”

6LACK spoke about the DMV rapper with Apple Music's Zane Lowe and said Wale is on par with Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, and Drake as an artist. [Jump to the 48:52 mark]

“I know that Wale has always had a way with his words. I know that during times where I was still figuring out myself and figuring out my music… his words spoke to me," said 6LACK. "Flowers, man. Flowers for him all day long, because everything that we see right now as far as Hip Hop goes has graduated from a specific era ... As of right now, the current day, that era is Drake. That era is Kendrick [Lamar], that era is Wale, that era is [J. Cole]. These are some of the building blocks of what we have right now. So flowers for him."

Are you in agreement with 6LACK?

One person who's probably not is Freddie Gibbs who once mocked Wale for putting himself on the same level as Cole, Drizzy, and K Dot.
