According to Cam'ron, Ma$e left rap music to become a pastor in order to avoid violence.

"Ma$e said 'You know what? I'ma just start saying I'm in church,'" Cam explained on Instagram Live. "[But] Ma$e took it too far, though, started preaching, all that shit. I see what he was doing with that shit. He was like, 'You know what? Niggas ain't gon' motherfuckin' harrass me if I'm in church' ... He was like, 'Yo, they can't beef with me, they can't ask me for nothing. I'm going to throw on a reverend collar and get the fuck out of here. Fuck that.'"
Later on, the Dipset leader said Ma$e also left rap because he couldn't handle stardom, nor the millions of dollars he made. Plus, it seems like the Bad Boy spitter was being constantly harassed in his Harlem neighborhood.

"You can't even get mad at Ma$e," said Cam. "I know niggas 28, 29, 30 who can't handle $10 million ... He went triple platinum when he was 21 years old. That's a lot to handle and still coming to the hood."
You can hear the rest of Cam'ron's comments about his high school classmate below at around the 5:50 mark.
