In 1993, while he was recording his breakout album Doggystyle, Snoop Dogg's bodyguard shot and killed a rival gang member.  Snoop was driving the car, and they were both charged with murder.

In 1996, they were both acquitted with Johnnie Cochrane representing them in court and arguing self-defense.
