50 Cent Got Yo Gotti To Change His Label Name

by HHL JT

Yo Gotti's been on a good run.

And he has Rolls Royces to show for it.

He attributes a bit of his success to something 50 Cent told him.

Gotti's CMT label used to stand for Cocaine Muzik Group, a reference to its "addictiveness."

However, 50 told him to switch it up.  Gotti explained what 50 Cent said to him about his label name in an interview with Billboard.

Yo, you're winning, but you can't be Cocaine Muzik Group– that's too harsh. They're going to be scared of that." Gotti claims this was a moment of clarity: "[I] thought about it like, 'Damn, he's right. What else does CMG mean?’ He put it in my head to start thinking in that direction," he said.

Now CMG stands for Collective Music Group, thanks to Fif.
