Back when he was Titty Boi and was in the rap duo Dolla Boy, 2 Chainz signed with Ludacris.

However, by the time his debut album  Based on a T.R.U. Story dropped, he was on Def Jam.

During his Drink Champ's interview, he explained how he broke his deal with Luda. [Jump to 2 hours 44 minutes.]

“I woke up and called [Ludacris] and said, ‘I don’t want to be on the label anymore.’ Then they said, ‘You can’t do that. You just can’t just get off a label like that.’ what you mean I'm gonna do me own thing.  They thought I was about to go sign with Cash Money because I had a strong relationship with Tune[chi} at the time,” 2 Chainz continued. “I been around ’Cris, I been around Wayne, and then I’m learning I can really do this on my own.  I was like, oh, I can do this too."

Ludacris tried to convince him not to leave.  Then they offered to let him out for 100K, assuming he didn't have the cash.  But he had the cash.

"I paid [Ludacris] to get out, they get a point on my first three albums. I paid Luda the 100 grand and I gave him a point on each of the three albums. I just dropped my seventh album. I’m on my eighth album that I’m ’bout to drop now—and the 100,000, I mean very humbly, I got it on me now.”
