Timabaland has had a busy year making music for the hit show Empire, and developing his new female protégé's Tink’s career.
After Tink performed a cover of Aaliyah’s One in a Million during her Fader Fort set last night at SXSW, Timbaland told fans that the late R&B singer spoke to him in a dream and told him that Tink is "the one."
"I don’t touch any of my sister’s records. I don’t touch Baby Girl’s records—you know that’s Aaliyah. I was riding home one day, sleep. She spoke to me in my sleep and said, 'She’s the one,'" he stated while pointing at Tink. The Chicago MC, who made noise several months ago with a remix of Jay-Z and Rick Ross’s 'Movin' Bass' was signed to Timbaland’s Mosley Music Group in 2014. While she’s definitely on a hot streak so far with tracks like 'Tell The Children' and 'Used 2 Know', Timb is tripping if he thinks we’re anywhere ready to give her the Aaliyah stamp.
