Spike Lee is not a very popular man among the Chicago community right now. Several rappers have spoken out against his upcoming Chiraq film, including Lil Bibby and Chief Keef. The trailer caused all sorts of controversy because it portrays the situation going on in Chicago as a comedy
To sort of ease the tension, Spike did a little video blog that further explains his film. He discusses how Chiraq is a satire, and then previews several scenes that show how the film will have a serious tone to it. Watch it below.
“Some people are getting it twisted and think that this is a comedy. Chi-Raq is not a comedy. Chi-Raq is a satire, and there is a difference between humor and comedy. In no way, shape or form are we not respectful of the situation that is happening in Chi-Raq.”
