In the last few months, we've seen Marvel shout out to Hip Hop with comic book covers featuring Birdman and Rae Sremmurd. Continuing this trend, Deadpool #45 and Howard The Duck #2 will have variant covers that depict critic darlings Run The Jewels. While neither Killer Mike or El-P are directly featured, we see the duo's signature "fist-and-gun" logo recreated on each cover. (Below.)
Rolling Stone spoke to both artists about the covers. El-P admitted they took him by complete surprise, but Killer Mike said that he "knew it was happening potentially" and added this:
"I grew up reading comics with my dad — my stepdad, but I don't use that word — he let me just have his comic collection. So this is a very big deal for me, man," Mike said. "I look forward to when this shit drops, taking him up and driving him to the comics store in North Dekalb, just to let him get out and not even tell him that it's going down. I know he's gonna be so proud he could fuckin' cry, bruh."Check out the variant covers below.
