Macklemore was back in the news this week after declaring that his mainstream success was due largely to his "white privilege." It was the first interview the Seattle emcee had done in a while, and he may have had motives beyond getting that racial guilt off of his chest.

Yesterday, Macklemore welcomed the new year with this tweet, declaring that he will be dropping a new album in 2015.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis's last album, The Heist, will always be controversial for snagging the Best Rap Album Grammy from Kendrick Lamar's Good Kid, M.A.A.D City.

Still, The Heist undoubtedly had a huge impact, thanks to the catchy singles 'Thrift Shop' and 'Can’t Hold Us,' and the gay rights anthem 'Same Love.'

Do you think the duo's next effort can live up to that high standard?
