N.W.A.'s former manager Jerry Heller was not involved in the making of Straight Outta Compton. Nor was he interviewed by its screenwriters.
When initially asked about the film, the litigious 74-year old said he'd reserve judgement until after seeing it.
He now has, and it doesn't seem like he's pleased with his character, who was played by Paul Giamatti.
"Well, my only comment so far is that I think it’s inappropriate for me to comment on a movie that I haven’t seen," he told the LA Times. "I did see it on Saturday, and I’m still not willing to comment right now on that movie because I think sooner or later it may be part of an ongoing litigation."In the film's narrative, Heller screws over the band and makes himself rich in the process.
There is usually more nuance in life than there is in a two and a half hour movie. But do you think there is enough of a difference here for Heller to have a case in court?
