It's always fun to play the "what if" game with rappers and the labels they didn't end up signing with.
The latest contestant is Jadakiss and the Lox, who were apparently courted by Death Row before they ended up signing with Puffy and Bad Boy. Jada recalled the call he got from Suge Knight during a Hot 97 interview to promote his new album Top 5 Dead or Alive.
"It's Suge Knight," Jadakiss says. "'I hear Puffy wants to sign y'all. This that and the third. I want all, I got tickets for y'all to get on the redeye tonight with however many people y'all want. We want you to fly to L.A. to sign to Death Row.' That was crazy." "The Lox probably woulda never panned out to where we turned out to be if we woulda went over there," he continues. "We woulda had some Dre, though. We woulda had some vintage Dre [production] back then. Could you imagine hearing young 'Kiss on Dre?Given The Lox's problems with Puffy and Bad Boy, we're not so sure turning down Suge helped their career. What do you think?
