Iggy Azalea may be not be the choice of the Hip Hop world, but she's this year's people's choice for Favorite Hip Hip Artist.

Iggy Azalea bested fellow nominees Jay-Z, Drake, T.I. and Nicki Minaj last night at the People's Choice Awards, which is voted on exclusively by the public.

The Australian import also performed during the ceremony. Other winners included Pharrell Williams in the Favorite R&B Artist category and Taylor Swift as Favorite Pop Artist.

Whenever Iggy wins a Hip Hop award it's going to be controversial. But it's worth pointing out this is the third straight win for her at an awards show in which the public votes, having taken both  Best Album and Favorite Rap Artist at the 2014 American Music Awards in November.

Whether this propels her to a Grammy win -- where the voting comes from members of the Recording Academy -- remains to be seen.
