Some can surely remember that back in the days of Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, and Yo-Yo, there were a slew of female rappers on the scene. Then there was a drought and men dominated.

But eventually, Nicki Minaj came on the scene and after being pretty much the sole successful female rapper for a while, the flood gates opened and there were a bunch of female spitters in the industry again.

Ice Spice, who had a breakout year in 2022, is surely one of them and she talked about Nicki having a big influence on her.

“When I saw Nicki, I was so mesmerized,” Spice told XXL. “She’s the first female rapper that I [saw]. And ever since then, I was kinda set on what I wanted to be.”

Spice also talked about all of the success she's had after dropping her hit "Munch (Feelin’ U)."

“All my siblings tell me how they just see me all over [TikTok’s] For You page,” she explained. “And all their friends be singing my song and stuff. It’s crazy. I just started my career so I got a long way to go before I’m satisfied. But I want to be remembered for all the things I didn’t get to do yet.”

Where do you see Ice Spice's career going in 2023?
