John Calipari is a master recruiter. He was able to bring elite talent to basketball backwater UMass and to mid-major power Memphis.

When he joined the already powerhouse University of Kentucky he started putting together recruiting classes the likes of which had rarely been seen before.

He also has time for a weekly podcast, and UK super fan Drake was his most recent guest.

During the chat, Drake told Coach Cal how blown away he was the first time they met.

"When I came to Lexington and I met you, I didn’t want to leave. I would’ve probably traded my life at that moment to like play Kentucky basketball and be under you," Drake said. "It felt like a mentor it felt like a father figure, this incredible feeling."

That's seem pretty good insight into how Coach Cal has been able to get the Marcus Cambys and Derrick Roses and John Walls to come to his schools over the years.

As for Drake, UK basketball was never really a possibility.
